Most people aren’t satisfied with their butts. Are you? If you are reading this article, chances are that you aren’t and actively want to find out how you can tone it up. In order to do this, combine the exercises below with proper nutrition and you will be well on your way to having a nice butt!
We compiled a list of 10 best butt exercises to help you on your journey. We wanted to mention that the videos were not created by us but we tried to find you the best videos we can. Enjoy!
1) Squats
We have mentioned this before but squats are the overall best exercise for your lower body. Not only does it work your butt but also your entire thigh muscle. For men, squats and deadlifts will be the only exercise you need to tone your butt since you will be doing it with heavy weights ( and you have higher testosterone). For ladies, you can do squats without weights (or with weights if you choose) and combine it with the other exercises mentioned below.
For ladies, instead of putting the bar on your back, you can hold a dumbell in each hand and squat down. You can try this first without doing weights and when you become comfortable, pick up some dumbells that you can do 10 times and push for 2 more. Here is the video:

Some Tips To Keep In Mind
1)Try to point your toes out at 30 degrees instead of pointing it straight
2)Different things work for different people but we have found that wearing flat shoes help us keep our balance more
3)If your knees start to hurt in any way, stop immediately! You are probably doing it wrong therefore take off the weights and squat the bar to perfect your form.
2) Deadlifts
This exercise incorporates every single muscle in your body and cannot be skipped. If you want a perfect butt, definitely give this exercise a shot. For an article about how squats and deadlifts can help you build testosterone and reduce fat, read our article here : exercises to reduce belly fat.
Some Tips To Keep In Mind
1)Keep your back arched
2)Do NOT pull up with your lower back (this can cause serious injuries). Push up with your legs and squeeze up with your entire back
3)Also try squeezing up with your glutes (butt)
3)Lunges
Lunges work both your butt and your thighs. You are simply pushing up with your butt and thighs when coming up. In the video, she talks about it putting concentration on your inner thighs but forget that part! concentrate on your butt by trying to actively push up with your butt muscles.
Tips
1)Make sure your knees are bending in the same direction as the direction of your toes
2)Make sure your knees never go past your toes
3)If your knees hurt in any way, stop Lunging! You are most likely doing it wrong so re-watch the video and change your form.
4)A good way to burn your muscles is to never go fully up. When you are going up, go only 90% and go back down. In this way, you are keeping constant pressure on your muscles.
5)If this is too easy for you, try holding dumbells on each hand, let your arms hang, and Lunge.
4)Side Steps
The video explains it all. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure that you dip your butt so that it is parallel to the floor before you come back up.
5)Step Up
Awesome exercise for both your butt and your thighs. Out of all the videos on Youtube, we included this one because we found the commentator to be hilarious!
6) Leg Raises
This exercise combines muscles from your butt, your thighs and your abs. When doing leg raises, try to keep something soft under your lower back. Stop immediately if you feel too much pressure on your lower back.
7) Plies
Pronounced “pleeeeee-a”, this exercise can be somewhat hard to master but if you do end up mastering this exercise, your body will thank you! If you have trouble balancing yourself, this exercise might not be for you. You have to stand with your feet wide apart and have your legs bent so that your thighs are parallel to the floor. When kicking up, make sure you don’t fall! Watch the video for a better explanation of how to do a plie:
8)Stairmaster
The Stairmaster is an awesome way to work out your butt, your thighs and also gives you a great cardio workout. The picture we have on the left is a Stairmaster 4200 and cost thousands but most gyms have at least one or two Stairmasters. If there isn’t one, you can walk up and down your own stairs at home (this might get you dizzy).
9) Walking Uphill
It doesn’t matter if you walk uphill on a small hill, mountain, or on a Landice L7 treadmill (although it might be more relaxing if taking a stroll outdoors). The benefits of walking uphill is that it puts very little pressure on your joints, works all your leg muscles and gives you a great cardio workout. Try it out by substituting your running sessions for walking uphill sessions.
10) Hiking
Hiking is an awesome way to enjoy nature and to work out your glutes at the same time. You will be having fun and exercising at the same time. What more can you ask?
